This week we welcome our guest blogger, Bianca from the Coast Digital Team

Here she shares with us her recent trip to the Henri Matisse exhibit at the sunny Tate Modern.

‘If you have not already I urge you to visit the latest Henri Matisse exhibition; Be warned nothing quite prepares you for the beauty and scale of Matisse’s late work shown at the Tate Modern until the 7th September 2014.

Henri Matisse (1869 – 1854) was one of the most innovative painters of the twentieth century but for the last seventeen years of his life due to health problems turned to cutting shapes from painted paper.

As his strength declined, the scale of his cut-outs increased. The exhibition shows the development of these cut-outs and the beauty of life even as we face its end.’

So why not take some time this weekend to go and see the works of this late French Master, take a walk along the Thames and grab an ice cream in the sunshine? Or the rain… of course.
