Meet Coast’s Designer Georgina

The design team at the Coast head office are setting their gaze towards S/S 16 to discover the trends they’ll be backing for the upcoming season. We had a chat with Georgina, our Junior Dress Designer about what inspires her and what shows she’s most looking forward to during Fashion Week.

Favourite decade for fashion?

I love the 1950s for the full skirted silhouettes & volume.

How would you describe your personal style?

Classic and contemporary – I like clean lines and a mono colour palette for the day to day!

What designers most inspire you?

Oscar de la Renta or Giambattista Valli. I love how their collections have so much texture and surface interest through the print and artwork handwriting.

Where do you first look for inspiration when you start designing a dress?

Catwalk inspiration and trend sites are always a key starting point for me.

Do you have a favourite fashion week capital and why?

I love the Paris shows because of the designers, and it reminds me of when I was studying fashion and tried to get into as many Paris fashion shows as I could!

Catwalk inspiration and trend sites are always a key starting point for me.

Whose collections are you most looking forward to across the four fashion weeks?

Dior, Valentino, Monique l’huiller and Erdem are a few shows that I always get excited to see. They all produce such beautiful collections that are really inspiring for me as a designer on dresses.

Where do you go for inspiration in London?

I love spending a day at exhibitions to feel inspired- the V&A is one of my favourite places to go and has great cakes!

Do you find the street style at LFW inspiring when you’re designing?

Definitely, it’s great to see how people style and outfit current trends. Sometimes what you see on the streets is as indicative of trends as the catwalk is!

What trends do you think will be most influential this season?

Visual jacquards, feathers and fringing.

What is your favourite Coast piece for A/W 15?

I love the Mayanna Fringe Dress that will be in stores in October. It’s a real show stopper! And the Leona Feather Hem Dress is really beautiful too.
